Education around the world has been evolving along with technology and new challenges are being faced by teachers of all disciplines. With the developing technology, educational methods have changed, and blended classrooms have become the “alternative” for digital and face-to-face education. Now, teachers have the challenge of maintaining what has been effective from those methods and approaches and adopting new technologies to handle the instructional needs of today’s digital students.
Education nowadays is part of the new strains of the evolution of technology. In language teaching, digital tools and resources are presented as a great challenge, since teachers are used to traditional methodologies and approaches as fundamental elements. Blended learning offers the opportunity to include new technologies into education today and develop new ideas and capacities to respond to the needs of our students.
In this unit you will learn about 10 useful digital tools that can be easily implemented in your language class.
Teaching is fundamentally a process in which we seek to generate competencies in our students. This process includes planning, implementation, evaluation and follow-up. If we were to consider the incorporation of ICT to these educational processes, we could think of a process complemented and assisted by the new digital technologies.
General considerations to encourage learners to develop skills and practice the language by means of digital tools At present times, technology plays an important role in the practice and language skills development. In this regard, the incorporation of the tools offered by technology becomes a valuable instrument that allows the promotion of learning. In the process of planning, structuring and carrying out a language course, we need to consider the creation of each element by including a wide variety of digital tools. For this purpose the teacher must have a broad vision on the multiple tools and envision the adequate use of each of them according to the objectives of our course/class.
